Dennis Warner - Have a Little Faith in the World

Have a Little Faith in the World image of hands holding a seedling and the world.

Have a Little Faith in the World was written along the shore of Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota, USA.  That day I had performed at a primary school for grades K-5.  Also that day, in another U.S. city, there was a school shooting that killed many children.  I was so sad in hearing this news.  The same day I was singing for so many happy, loving kids, somewhere else at a different school, an unthinkable tragedy had occurred.  In the evening, under the full moon, I sat of the boulders along Lake Superior as the waves crashed to shore.

Thinking about how easy it is to lose faith in each other, I channeled my energy into writing a song that calls on us to remember that evil actions don't represent the majority of people. In fact, it's a very small percentage that carry out these horrible crimes.  We can't lose faith in each other. We cannot allow those misguided souls to take away our trust, our love, our joy.

I was blessed to work with many wonderful musicians in recording this song, including J.D. Steele who toured the world with Prince his entire career.  J.D. is an amazing vocalist. Freebo lends his exceptional bass playing expertise to this song, previously touring in Bonnie Raitt’s band for nine years.

Dennis’ song and book, “Beads on One String”, emphasizes the importance of our commonalities.  Warner explains, “Like a beaded necklace, we are all different sizes, shapes and colors, but all held together by one string.  That’s how I see us all around the world.  It’s the string, the things we share in common, that holds us together.”

Noted for being an entertainer, Dennis’ concerts blend serious, thought-provoking songs with lighter, up-tempo material.
