But who is WeeLye ?

Born into a family of musicians in Kinshasa (DRC), WeeLye developed an early passion for music alongside her aunt, a singer in the renowned Congolese rumba group "OK Jazz," and her uncle, a guitarist and bassist for the famous band Zaïko Langa Langa.
 
However, many years would pass before she decided to let her voice be heard. More comfortable behind the scenes, she flourished in backing vocals and singing lessons from the age of 18. It wasn’t until 10 years later that she stepped into the spotlight, encouraged by her partner and a desire to forge her own path.
 
WeeLye then traveled to New York, where she met the Brooklyn Funk Essentials and embarked on her first solo recordings. Between Paris and New York, she took the mic as an opening act for Erykah Badu and FéFé and had the opportunity to share the stage with artists such as Keziah Jones, Faada Freddy, and Camille BazBaz.
 
Now a singer-songwriter and performer, WeeLye draws on her experiences and multicultural background to offer music that is as powerful as it is nuanced, at the crossroads of Europe and Africa, between French and Lingala.
