“The Real Deal” was funded via an Individual Artist Grant from the City of San Antonio and shines a spotlight on the talent we have here in “Countdown City.” The recording is 9 original tunes (36 minutes & 48 seconds) of old school Soul-Jazz with a South Texas Twist. Powered by Ricky Hernandez on organ, this album features Noah Peterson on alto sax, Steve Mohacey on tenor sax, and Ryan Espita on Trombone. It’s a mix of all the things you love: a little street band, a little funky stuff, a little soul, a little blues, a little gospel, and some burning be-bop.
Noah Peterson is sax machine!
He is one of the hardest working musicians in Texas, he's always playing, recording, and writing new music. His previous release "Coming Home To You" spent 7 months in the Jazzweek charts in 2025 topping out at number 148.
"The Real Deal" is his hot new release of all orignal music,
"Biscuits and Gravy" is a nod to New Orleans with some great horn work followed up with the gently funky “Ain’t No Way Hombre.”
“Your Love Is Mine” is an epic ballad and sure to be a favorite.
The gospel track “Baby Don’t Cry” is powerful and evocative with an “a cappella” horn ending that's a nod to Amazing Grace.
“Swing and Miss” is an aggressive, swinging blues.
The arrangements are thoughtful and original.
The band is loose, full of groove, fun, and ready for anything.
