Mortals and Wrecks (Sarah Evans)

'Mortals and Wrecks' was born on a wintry night, with a bottle of red wine, a notebook, an unplayable piano and a cast of characters at the bar. They all made it into the title track, save for the unplayable piano. Each character has a fascinating backstory, and the lyrics to the title track paint them as perfectly human, merely mortal, kind of a wreck, and deserving of a second try.

Enter Dave Knowles, producer extraordinaire, who wrote a beautiful orchestral arrangement for the title track, and produced the entire EP. The tracks that follow are a full range of experiences and vibes: 'Another Someone Who Almost Stayed' is a piano-driven ballad that will break your heart, with a surprisingly dank chorus break.

On 'Good to you', look for millennial nostalgia and teenage dreams; 'Crush I have to Get Over' will remind you that we're all a little bit crazy when it comes to romance, and the chorus will be stuck in your head for days. 'Smoking Jacket' is a sweet vignette about all the little things that make love worthwhile.

The EP features a mix of acoustic recordings (real instruments!) and electronic vibes, synths and drums, giving it an authenticity that is both vintage and modern.
